As GIS specialist, Julia is responsible for the collection, analysis and manipulation of GIS data. Quality geographic information is cornerstone to FA's approach to planning and community building. The numerous data sets she compiles include: the built environment, vacant land layers, land use and parking inventories, identification of environmentally sensitive lands, and future master street plans.
With involvement in the majority of FA's projects, Julia has worked on diverse projects on many scales. Her recent projects include the comprehensive plan for Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the Civic Plan for Beaverton, Oregon, Climate Smart Communities regional scenario planning efforts for the Portland region, and transportation scenarios for Fresno, California and the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. Before joining Fregonese Associates, Julia worked at Metro, the Portland area's regional government, on a historical land use project for the region. Julia spent her formative years in Western Europe where she was instilled with a particular interest in urban life and regional interaction.
Julia has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Karlsruhe and a Master of Science in Geography from Portland State University.
