Pointe Coupee Parish is located northeast of Baton Rouge, Louisiana in a beautiful rural setting. With the construction of the John James Audubon bridge over the Mississippi River, this area is poised to become an important area for new development. With its many assets, Point Coupee Parish seeks to create a plan that reflects the citizens’ shared vision, provides strategies to guide the parish toward the community’s vision, and shows a clear roadmap to implement the plan’s strategies.

Key elements of the comprehensive planning process include:

  • Capturing the community’s vision through a variety of citizen input opportunities
  • Developing an analytical framework for analysis and communication
  • Using scenario planning to understand what future conditions may be
  • Developing an integrated vision for land use, transportation and economic development
  • Developing strategies to achieve the vision
  • Creating a strategic implementation and action plan
  • Providing for ongoing monitoring
