As the consultant on the Upstate Regional Process Initiative, FA explored the potential for a regional planning process for a 10-county region in Upstate South Carolina. The Upstate region reflects a mix of urban and rural areas, including the Greenville metro area, the cities of Spartanburg and Anderson, and large swaths of rural land. Fregonese Associates conducted in-depth interviews with key stakeholders, completed a SWOT analysis for the region, and organized the development process, including facilitation strategies for the regional process. Fregonese Associates also assessed the adequacy of the regional transportation models and evaluated current GIS data related to land use, population, and the environment.
